About the Author:
I have been using a computer since 1979, have been on CompuServe since 1988,
and have been on the Internet for over 4 years. I have written two manuals
which sold exclusively on CompuServe. One was entitled "How to Start Your
Own On-Line Business" and the other was entitled "Marketing and Promotion
on CompuServe". The success of these two manuals in helping out small
business owners prompted me to create a manual for promotion and marketing
on the Internet.
As You Read This Manual:
The main goal of this manual is to teach you the basics of marketing your
pages on the Internet and to provide ways of increasing the traffic to
your site. I can not guarantee that you will sell more product,
but I can guarantee you will attract a larger audience. It is up to you
to
sell the product once they enter your "virtual showroom".
In trying to achieve this goal, I wanted to make this manual as simple to
follow as possible. Part of that will be through getting directly to the
point and avoiding writing a long and drawn out book. This, as the title
describes, is a MANUAL. It should be concise and to the point. I may
repeat certain ideas, but this is to emphasize the importance. I'd like
for you, the reader and web page designer, to be able to read this sitting
in front of your computer while you do your work.
Secondly, I realize that I will not be able to cover all aspects in such
a
manual, and that I will not be able to answer all questions that you may
have. In fact, I will consider this manual a success if after you finish
it, you have questions that you did not have before.
This manual is to be used simply as a guide. Some people will find it
relates to them more than others. What you must learn from this manual are
just the basic principles that I am trying to explain. You will have to
adapt the techniques of marketing to your particular situation and your
particular product or service.
For your part, there are a few things I am taking for granted.
First, I assume you understand the basics of web page design including html
code.
Second, I assume that you know a little about the Internet as a whole.
